First off, I'd like to introduce you all to our newest design team member, Lindsey Spencer. She is AMAZING! My jaw just about hit the ground when she said she would come on board. I've been admiring her work since Tanis introduced us to her at Hip Hop and on a whim, I asked if she'd design for me. Well, it pays to go with your gut! Welcome Lindsey! You are AMAZING and so inspiring to me!
This week's challenge is a little different. 10oneworld is an organic clothing company. They went organic because
the owner's daughter had a lump in her breast and her pediatrician was concerned about the amount of chemicals she was getting. The family decided to go organic and spread that into their company. They also do a lot of reusing materials (making patches out of old denim) and making items that are more earth friendly like market bags. Here is the LINK!
This week, I'd like to challenge you all to use environmentally friendly products or reuse some old stuff that you might have thrown away. It doesn't have to be your entire creation. You do not have to use an actual store item as inspiration. I thought it would be cool to get in the spirit of things with the products we use. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Also, there will be a PRIZE for the best card again! Come on people! We want you to join in! 10OneWorld is giving away an AWESOME market tote! Just upload your creation by Monday Oct 13, noon Pacific.
Here is my card. It's inspired by the shop in general. I used 100% organic cotton fiber on this. I reused can tabs which I inked up a little with some brown ink. The water color paper is actually a scrap I rescued from the garbage at my parent's house (my step dad has a art giclee business.) And the little disks at the bottom actually fell off my shirt I was wearing yesterday. Well, the first one fell off and I might have "helped" the others along.
Here is Lindsey's AMAZING creation! Didn't she ROCK this one out?!? I just love her money tree inspired item! How awesome is this? And she gives you detailed instructions on her blog!
I love seeing everyone's green creations! Isn't that 100% organic lace the best and only $1!!!! Is the seller having any specials that you know of? I planned on purchasing some stuff ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing this! I appreciate the effort being made on your part! By the way, after going organic, my now 8 year old daughter is lump free and healthy!!!
