Shopping for a Cause

I'm not sure if this is going to be an ongoing feature on my blog but I thought I would try it out.  While browsing Etsy for future sellers to feature (I'm telling you, it's ROUGH to be me ;) ) I came across a really cute shop that has an interesting reason for being in business.

Magnolya Designs is a shop that is set up in hopes of raising money to fund an adoption.  The owner of the shop, Marisela is hoping to adopt twins this time.  She is already a stay at home mom to a little two year old.  Now that I think about it, she's VERY brave.  I mean, I have ONE 16 month old and I do not ever want to have twins.  If I were to have twins, I would be so lost.

Now, adoption is a subject close to my heart.  Many of my close friends have been adopted.  And as I grow older, many of my good friends are adopting children of their own.  Adoptive parents are amazing.  They open their hearts and homes to children and love them like their own.  These poor children that were unwanted by their own parents.  (ETA: In this, I am talking about overseas adoptions.  I'm talking about the orphanages filled with babies who barely get touched because there are SO many of them and the places are understaffed.  I'm talking about little girls who are abandoned because they were born NOT as a boy.  I am NOT talking about domestic adoptions.  I have friends who have had to give their children up for adoption and that is DIFFERENT.  I KNOW that there is a difference.  And I'm not going to go into how I feel about domestic adoption right now.)   And there are SO many kids like this out there.  I hope to one day be able to adopt but it is very costly.   That's why I think it's a great idea that Marisela is using her crafting skills to help raise money for her goal.  And what a kind hearted goal it is!

Magnolya Designs is a gorgeous shop!  I love the bags, they come in the coolest fabrics and colors.  They also have cute inside pockets too!  She also makes cute stuff from babies like blankets, burp clothes, and slippers.  She also has fun magnets and fun postcards.  So, while you are shopping for Christmas presents keep this shop in mind!  You'll be giving a  great gift to Marisela and the children I hope that she will soon get to add to her family.

  2. I just want to say I like your blog and read everytime I get a n email. BUT, you really need to rephrase this comment -
"These poor children that were unwanted by their own parents."
There are many reasons why children are put up for adoption and yes some are unwanted but then alot of them are given to loving parents to give those children a much better life. There are many young single mothers that know they cannot care for a baby and give that child a good life so they make a very hard decision to give that baby up out of love for that child.
