Crazy Made Clean and Simple

My friend Lee issued the You Shouldn't Have Left Us Alone (YSHLUA) challenge this week.  It's basically a CRAZY challenge in return for leaving the girls in chat alone so they can plot evil against you.  ;)  Lee's challenge was to use as many layers as in your username, as many embellishments as you have initials,  and have your card be monochromatic.

There is NO WAY I'm making a card using as many layers as in my username (HeartHugsDesigns.)  It's 16 letters!  So, Lee said we could do half the amount.  I did eight layers and even then I started to feel queasy.  I had all my layers out and then I realized I had to use three embellishments and thought made me sick to my stomach.  I couldn't add MORE to this already way full card!  So, I used ribbon, crystal effects, and glitter as my embellies.  The stamp set is Unity's Everyday Adorable.  I am IN LOVE with this kit, so cute!

Thankfully, the Monday SCS Clean and Simple challenge was to make over one of your own cards!  Woohoo!  I chose to make over my YSHLUA challenge card.  Look at how clean and simple and non queasy it is!  I have to admit four layers is my comfort zone.  I love a nice four layer card.  I used the same stamp kit, paired down the layers, left off the embellishments, and stamped the sentiment directly on one of the layers.  So easy, so clean.

It's a little hard to believe that probably six months ago, I would have preferred the layered card.  I guess that goes to show how we grow.  Maybe one day, I'll go back to being a more is more stamper.  But for now, clean and simple works for me.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Great take on both the challenges Ashley. I wonder how much it would cost to mail that first card with the weight of all those layers? LOL
