Original Baby Shower Invite

Hi friends!  I hope you are all doing well.  We are ok.  We are getting over a cold.  I got a sinus infection from the cold and ended  up on 7 days of antibiotics.  Sigh... let's hope that this isn't a trend this cold and flu season.  We did go get flu shots as a family so maybe that will help.

A little while ago, I posted about the 30 invitation I made for a friend's baby shower.  I also said that it was not the original design.  This card was the original design, made the match the baby's bedding.  This is MUCH simpler than the design I ended up going with.  The star paper has the faux ribbon and the striped at the bottom.  Also, there's less paper piecing.  The paper is from Joann Fabrics, the boat and ahoy sentiment are from an old Gina K set, the You're Invited is from Stampin Up.
Have a great day, everyone!

I Made a Card, Actually I Made 30

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a great day!  We are doing pretty good around here.  We are trying to take it easy a bit and trying to get things done.  Also, can you believe that it's almost fall?  I guess it might be fall in some parts of the country.  This year has gone by SO fast!

Speaking of getting things done, one of my friends asked me to make baby shower invites for one of our mutual friends.  The theme of the baby's nursery is sailboats.  I was sent a picture of the bedding and based my card on that.  However, this is the second draft I made.  I will share the first card I made on another day.

This card ended up with a lot more steps than I originally intended.  I don't know how the card LOOKS so simple yet was so labor intensive.  I used A LOT of Spellbinders on this card.  Fussy cutting.  Dry embossing.  The boat and "ahoy" is from an old Gina K Stamps set from Tami Mayberry. The paper is from Recollections called something like Baby Boy Stripes.  I need something I could buy a lot of and quickly.  The "you're invited" is from Stampin Up, an even older set.  I added some May Arts ribbon, a Tiny Attacher staple, some Stickles, and I pulled out my old Swiss Dots embossing folder.  So, this is the card from lots of past things.
And here's a picture of them all on my desk drying.   All 30.  It took me about 10 hours.
Have a great day, friends!

CAS Gina K Card

Hello friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! I'm still feeling pretty crummy but what can you do?

Today, I'm blogging an OLD card. I tried to make a CAS card with my Gina K Lovely Shelf but I think I went a little too clean. This needs a ribbon or something. The paper is Basic Grey Kioshi.

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

Kioshi Thanks

Hello friends! Yesterday was a crazy day! I have to tell you about it. It was all made ok but the kindness of strangers. First, a man in a Frontier (internet company) van pulled over at a red light to come up to me and tell me my tire was flat. After freaking out for a bit, I went to the gas station to try to fill it back up. At which point, the tire went completely flat. I had no idea what I was going to do. I had both kids in the car, no jack, no tool, and I don't know how to change a tire. This woman who was next to me at the gas station offered to help but I didn't know what she could do being that I don't know a darn thing about cars. She said she was going to try to get me some help and took my phone number. I climbed back in my car and cried for a while. Finally, I decided to try to call for a tow truck. I was on the phone when the lady, Parlena, came back up to my window. She went over to Les Schwab and convinced the manager to send someone out to help me!

Not too much later, the Les Schwab truck drove up and a handsome young man hopped out. This Les Scwab employee, Justin, quickly changed my tired, put air in the spare and reassured me that everything would be fine. He might as well of rode up on a white horse! He wouldn't take any money from me and just told me to have a good day. This brings me to today's card, a thank you for your gift card. This time, the gift I received was kindness from strangers.

Here's my super simple card. It's a white card stock base with some Basic Grey Kioshi paper. I stamped the sentiment from Gina K Designs, Lovely Shelf set. I added some pink Kaisercraft rhinestones to the middle of some of the flowers and that's it!

Hope you all have a great day!

Challenges Make My Mojo GO!

Woohoo! I've finally found some mojo! It's the most awful feeling when you don't have any, isn't it? Wanna know where I found mine? On Allison Fillo's blog. Everyday, she posts a bunch of sketch challenges that she's found on her blog. It's the best thing EVER!

This first card, I made for the All That Scraps challenge. Lots of layers are actually really hard for me but I love ATS so I went with it. Isn't this bear so cute? He's from C.C. Designs, you can find him HERE. The designer paper is Sassafrass Sunshine and Lollipops. I distressed the edges to give a little definition to the layers without having to mat them all since that would make the card SOOOO heavy. The rhinestones are Studio 18.

This next card was make for Annabelle Stamps challenge 4. This company is new to me. I don't have any of their stamps, but they sure are cute. You are allowed to play along with any supplies you have. The designer paper and chipboard are Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly. The Cuttlebug folder is Snowflakes. The stamp is Gina K. Warm Winter Wishes. And the bling is Darice.

So, if you can't find your mojo, I suggest you go try some challenges. They helped me find mine. In fact, I know TWO challenges that you could try. ;)

Moxie Fab: Old Country Christmas

Ok, so I don't know that Old Country is really my style but I decided to give it a shot since it's the current challenge over at Moxie Fab World. That and I'm trying to make a bunch of Christmas cards for my first ever craft fair. (Wish me luck!)

This card uses paper from Cosmo Cricket's Jolly by Golly, this line is so versatile. I've used it on cutesy card, vintage looking cards, and more serious cards. So fun! The clock stamp is from Unity's Folk Art. The sentiment is from Gina K's Warm Winter Wishes. I hope you like my card! :)

For My Sweet Friend Tiff

Tiffany Johnson is one of the first blogging and SCS friends that I made.  She's so very dear to me!  I call her about everything and her sweet calm demeanor helps me through it all.  I just hope she can lean on me as much as I lean on her.

Tiff and her family are now in Florida spending time with her MIL who has terminal cancer.  I don't even have words to express what she must be going through right now.  If you'd like to send Tiffany and her family a card, please send me an email and I will give you her address.

I have the HARDEST time with sympathy cards.  They are hard for me to make, hard for me to write in, etc...  This is a Gina K. stamp set, I used swiss dots on the mat, and behind are two different DPs but you can't really tell.  I added Stickles to the flowers and the mat.

Hugs to all my friends!

Another Step Out

Look at me, all outside my box.  ;)  This is a card I made for the Get Tailored Challenge from GinaK Designs on their SCS forum.  The challenge was to make a card with a tailored bow on it.  The bow was actually pretty simple and I just love the look of it.  I think it's also a masculine enough bow to put on a card for a man too.  I'm glad I learned this technique.  I learned it HERE.

This is my only GinaK set.  I won it on World Card Making Day I think.  It's called Comfort & Peace.  I love the silhouettes of flowers in this set.  I think they are very pretty and lend themselves to some classy cards.  I really wanted to make a black and white card but this Cherry Arte paper called out to me.  So, black, white and red it was.

I'll be back around lunch time with ULTRASOUND pictures!  Stay tuned!!
