May Arts DT Try Out Round 2

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a fabulous day!  We are enjoying a slightly cooler day here which is wonderful!  We are off to a BBQ tonight which should be great!

For those of you who follow my blog, you might have read that I'm trying out for the May Arts Ribbon Design Team.  I've already made it to Round 2 and today, I'm sharing my round 2 tutorial and project with you.  I've created a video tutorial for a technique I made up called Fishtail Ribbon Technique.  It is inspired by the fishtail braid hairstyle that I used to wear as a girl.

I took my three completed ribbon fishtails (all made with May Arts stitched grosgrain ribbon) and made this canvas.  I wanted the paint to have a very rustic distressed look on the canvas.  I hope that I achieved that.  I spelled out the sentiment with some Thickers, added some flowers, and some rhinestones.

I hope you have a great weekend and please keep your fingers crossed for me!

May Arts DT Try Out

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a lovely day!  Sadly, I'm still sick.  I finished my second round of antibiotics on Friday and was feeling great on Saturday then on Sunday I started feeling sick again.  Boo! :(  I have no idea what to do now.

Ok, May Arts DT try out.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE May Arts!  I've been waiting to do this try out because I wanted to do a video tutorial and I've sounded like a frog for the last month.  Not cool.  ;)  However, since it's the LAST day, I just made the video.  I apologize for sounding crazy!  Here's the video:

And here's the project I made with one of the bows I tied in the video.

And a couple of my favorite projects I've done using May Arts ribbon:

Wish me luck!  Giant hugs!!

Tape Banner Tutorial

Here's my post from the Love My Tapes Blog yesterday:

Hi friends! It's Ashley here to share a project with you today. I'm sure you all know how popular banners are and I just wanted to show you how simple it is to make a banner from fabric tape.

To make the banner, you use have a select what size you'd like your flags and cut the tape pieces to that length. I used Mini Check Fabric Tape in Taffy, Sherbet, and Lemon Bar. Then cut the Vs into each end and stick them to the paper using either a piece of twine or string as the rope for the banner. I used Divine Twine.
I'd like to point out the stamp in this card. It is a Swimming For Katie stamp from i {heart} papers (an online store that sells Love My Tapes.) These stamps are to benefit my friend and fellow crafter, Katie Renz who is battling gastric cancer. If you can, please purchase a stamp. I have an incentive for you. I'm hosting a challenge for anyone who uses these stamps. Challenge details HERE. Love My Tapes has graciously donated 3 packs of fabric tape, 1 fabric sheet, and a double sided adhesive runner to my $200+ prize pack. (I love designing for these generous people!)

Have a great day!

Creative Inspirations Paints Video Tutorial

Hi everyone! Today I created a card using some Creative Inspiration Paints. I mixed up my own color so I wanted to make a video to show you how to do that. The video is at the bottom of this blog post.

This card was made for the Off The Wall Craftiness. The inspiration photo is shown to the right here. Every week, Kim offers a new challenge on her blog with a sponsor. It's very fun and she picks some fabby inspiration photos! You can see this specific challenge right HERE.

For my card, I used a Cuttlebug die cut and embossing folder combo for the butterfly. I mixed a couple Creative Inspirations Paints to make this navy color, I used Royal Blue and Onyx. I added some Recollections rhinestones to it. The ribbon is from May Arts. The patterned paper is from Pink Paislee's Bayberry Cottage. I punched it with a Martha Stewart border punch. The stamp is from Ippity's Regal Greetings, available for purchase through me RIGHT HERE.

And as always for my Creative Inspirations Paints pictures, I took another picture so you can see the shimmer. As you can tell, you don't lose any when you mix the paints together.

Here's my video, I hope you enjoy it!
