Oy! I don't know what to do. I heard about this grab bag contest that a local scrapbook store, Heart to Heart (I would link them but their website seems to be broken right now), was having because I am on their weekly newsletter list. I was SO excited! I thought it would be really fun to have a few and different kind of challenge. I also thought it would be really cool because they would display all the entries in their store for people to vote.
But then I got my grab bags. I snagged two since I wanted to do one card entry and one scrapbook entry. They came with LOVELY papers and a couple cute embellishments. But then they also have UGLY purple bat brads, cat stickers, dog paw stickers, lame phrase sticker, and some ugly plastic thing that looks like it belongs in the 80s. Cutting up the brads, painting them and using thing as other embellishments. I understand it's a challenge, but I can't use things that are completely out of my aesthetic. And I refuse to make something ugly.
So, I thought about ripping the stickers up and painting them. Using the ugly plastic thing as a giant dimensional and gluing something over it. Cutting up the word stickers to form my own words. But I don't know what open they would be to me demolishing the stuff in my bag. So, now I'm thinking I might just keep the pretty papers and use them to make cards. Maybe just shoving the stuff I don't like into a draw for some day where something I make calls for purple bats (yeah right.) What do you think I should do?
