Royal Tuesday Hop

If you are just stumbling in to my blog today, don't forget to go back to the QKD blog to start the blog hop. Today, there's a sketch (which I had to fudge because of the size of the image I had to use) and we are showing off the new releases that will be available on Wednesday.

This new release stamp is called Awaiting the Moment. How sweet is that? I love this mermaid from darling Maigan! I colored her with my Copics. The background paper is Deja Views. The white paper is embossed with the Swiss Dots folder. The flower is a Prima and the bling is Darice.

Now, your next stop is the Queen Kat Designs shop to get yourself some stamps! Here's the current sale:

Royal Monday Technique: Spotlight

Are you ready to start this week off with a Queen Kat Designs royal hop? If you just stumbled in today, go back to the QKD blog to start the hop. It's a fun one this week! We are doing the Spotlight technique. What you do is punch out an area of your image that you want highlighted, color that part and leave the rest of the image uncolored. It draws the eye in to your focus.

For my card, I used The Koi Pond stamp. Do you see how the technique really pulls the focus onto her pretty face? Not only that, but if you are intimidated by an image, you can use this technique to color a little bit. So, now you have NO excuse when it comes to buying these awesome mermaids!

And check out the sales at the Queen Kat Designs shop!

40% off QKD Stamps
40% off on all Past Kits
FREE Name & E-Mail stamp with purchase of any custom stamp
(Good today through12/31/09)
(Excludes the separates line & personalized & custom stamps)

Now hop on over to The Queen Kat shop! And pick yourself up some AWESOME sale items!

WIS Challenge: Metallics

Don't forget to check out my new challenge over at the Whimsical Ink Sorority blog! This week, the challenge is to use metallics! You can go HERE to enter and read the details! There's a prize up for grabs, so please play along!

For my card, I used the beautiful Nivia! She's so pretty. I used her a couple of weeks ago for the CAS challenge, giving her tan skin and black hair. She looked like me then. But today, with her brown hair and light skin, she looks like my WIS sister Shannon, doesn't she? This is a simple card, I'm working on my Copic coloring skills since I got some for Christmas/my birthday. The metallic paper is from DCWV. The ribbon is from Micheal's. The flower is a Prima with a generic dew drop in the center.

Also, can you see the difference in my coloring? I got some more Copics this week, a birthday present from me to me. I am having a lot of fun discovering about them and playing.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Whimsical Ink Sorority Challenge: Buttons!

Don't forget to play along with the challenge I issued over at the Whimsical Ink Sorority blog this week! I made it a simple one since Christmas is rapidly approaching and I wanted everyone to still be able to play along. The challenge is to use BUTTONS! You must use at least three buttons on your creation.

This week, I used to beautiful Anemone for my card. Isn't she pretty? And she looks totally different as a blond, huh? That's one of the awesome things about Maigan's mermaid stamps, you can color them however you want and change their personality to suit your needs. The designer paper is Making Memories. And the buttons are just from my stash.

Remember, you don't have to use QKD stamps to enter the challenge, but you do get TWO entries into the contest if you do. Link your creations to the WIS challenge post by next Friday by 5pm to win.

Whimsical Ink Sorority Challenge: Bright and Bold

Did you all see the NEW challenge I issued over at the Whimsical Ink blog? It's a fun one! The challenge is to use bright and bold colors on your creation. How fun, right? Especially right now when most people are using wintery colors, it's a nice break. Please keep in mind that you don't have to use Queen Kat Designs stamps to play along with this challenge, but if you do, you get entered into the drawing twice.

For my card, I used to beautiful Evangeline. I colored her and then added some Fruit Punch and Orange Peel Stickles to her. Then I used some fun pink paper from my stash. It's summery, huh? Kind of like a little vacation. ;)

Now, please go HERE and play along with this fun challenge! One lucky person will get the mermaid stamp of their choice.

Royal Monday and QKD 12 Days of Christmas: Day 9

It's Monday and time for another Queen Kat Designs Royal Monday blog hop. I'm also combining this with my 12 Days of Christmas post. :) If you just stumbled in on my blog, go back to the QKD blog to start your hop. If you came from my lovely Sara's blog, you are in the right place!

This week, we were given a sketch to work with. Of course, I made a Christmas card to go with my 12 Days. I inked up the Happy Holly Days set again. This set is just PERFECT for Christmas cards! You can use it tons of different ways! I used one of the snowflakes for my little panel and the sentiment.

Ok, your next stop on the hop is the Queen Kat Store to pick yourself up some wonderful new goodies!

QKD 12 Days of Christmas: Day 8

Yet another quick post. I'm feeling slightly better today but I'm trying to go without and pain relievers. I'm not sure my will is strong enough to last the entire day though. We shall see.

Here's a card I managed to make yesterday using the current sketch over at Michelle Perkett Studio Blog. I used my QKD Happy Holly Days stamp set again. See how fun it is to use it with holly images? I think it's adorable! The chipboard and DP are Cosmo Cricket.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Etsy Inspired Challenge #65 - So Stinking Sweet

And QKD 12 Days of Christmas Day 7. So, I'm combining my posts into a SUPER short post this week. I'm in a lot of pain and I need to relax a bit. You can go to the EtsyInspired blog for lots of info on the shop, prizes, and challenge details.

This week's EtsyInspired shop is So Stinkin Sweet. I was inspired by the Jack Frost Holiday Bath Soap. Isn't it darling? I love it! It's a peppermint and vanilla scent. How fun is that? I am in love with this shop! If anyone wants to get me the Pink Sugar fragrance, I'd be ok with that. ;)

For my card, I used the Happy Holly Day set from Queen Kat Designs. The CB folder is Snowflakes. I used Crystal Stickles on the snowflakes for added sparkle. Super simple! Now, go be EtsyInspired!

QKD 12 Days of Christmas: Day 6

Hello friends! I'm rather in a fog this morning. Sigh...that might be the worst part of this whole illness, I just can't think very clearly. But what can you do?

Here's the last card I have pre-made for the 12 Days Of Christmas. If by some miracle, I can get to crafting, maybe I will keep going but I'm not sure how that will go. Anyhow, here's another card using Holly the Mermaid and the Happy Holly Days set. You see what I did there? I made it punny! :) I crack myself up! The DP is DCWV and the rest is pretty straight forward.

Happy Friday friends!

QKD 12 Days of Christmas: Day 5

Good morning friends! Today is a slightly better day, my doctor put me on Vicodin for my pain. It doesn't take the pain away completely but it makes it a bit more manageable. I really dislike being so crabby all the time, especially in front of my kids. I am still nursing too. We nurse between doses of medicine and supplement with my pumped stash in between. Wish me luck!

Ok, so here's another card for Christmas. I made it using a sketch from Our Creative Corner. It's a fun sketch. I love it! The designer paper and chipboard is all DCVW. And the sentiment is QKD Happy Holly Days. And the ribbon is the super cheapy stuff from Mike's that they always have on sale. I love that I finally found a use for it!

Happy Thursday everyone!

QKD 12 Days of Christmas: Day 4

Short post as I'm just in a world of hurt right now. Here's my card for today, made again with Holly. I hear pink and blue is hot for Christmas this year.

Just to let you all know, I've been blogging projects that I had completed ahead of time. I only have two more after today so it you might only get 6 days of Christmas from me this year.

QKD 12 Days of Christmas: Day 3

Sorry that my post is late. I just have a lot going on and being sick is not helping. I'm sure it's not helping that it's this is such a busy time of year.

Anyhow, here's a tag I made using the adorable Oven Stamp from QKD. The tag is made with Nesties Lable One. The vellum on the top has snowflakes on it but you can't see it in the picture. I hand wrote the sentiment since I wanted it to be personal. The ribbon is just from Michael's.

The cookies are yummy yummy molasses cookies. YAY! Hope you all are having a great day!

QKD New Release and 12 Days of Christmas: Day 2

Woohoo! We are previewing new releases for Queen Kat Designs this week! How exciting is that? If you are just stumbling in today, then go back to the QKD blog so you don't miss any of the fun. If you came from sweetie Sara's blog, then you are in the right place!

So, hopefully I don't get in trouble for this but I'm showing you two cards today. :) The first one is the mermaid I got to work with. As if designing is work. Her name is Evangeline. She's HUGE! This is an A2 card and you can see how much room she takes up. I tried to keep things rather simple. You can't really tell but the wall behind her is colored grey. I just colored her, matted her on black and attached her to the card. The Cuttlebug folder is D'vine Swirls. The ribbon is from Michael's. Oh, and all the bubbles were done up in Crystal Stickles.

So, this is a rather untraditional Christmas card. It's made with the Koi Pond stamp that will be released on Wednesday. Alex actually gave me this idea. She told me to stamp the image in red and make a monochromatic card. The DP is from the DCWV Christmas stack from last year. And the sheer white ribbon is from Joann Fabrics.

Ok, from here you hop on over to the Queen Kat Store and pick yourself up some new goodies! But if you want to wait until the new release on Wedneday to buy something, you can, I guess. However, there is a sale today!

QKD 12 Days of Christmas: Day 1.5

Ok, I was going to save this card for later but the challenge I made it for ends today (I think), so you get a bonus post for today. I hope everyone's Sunday is going well!

I made this card using the CardPatterns sketch 43. The stamp I used is QKD Fantasy Gift Stamp. It's super versatile since I can use it for any occasion. The paper is Jolly by Golly from Cosmo Cricket. The rhinestones are Studio 18. And I covered the "ribbon" in Crystal Stickles.

Have a wonderful evening!

QKD 12 Days of Christmas: Day 1

Vicki, the owner of Queen Kat Designs, challenged the team to do a 12 Days of Christmas event on their blogs this year. She's even giving us a prize to do it. You know how I can't resist a prize so here goes! For the next 12 days, it will be a very Queen Kat Christmas here on my blog. :)

Today's card features the lovely Holly. She's obviously a mermaid from Maigan Lynn. Teehee, I never knew that mermaids celebrated Christmas. ;) But they should, it's the most wonderful time of the year. Anyhow, I colored Holly and matted her. The designer paper is DCWV. The sentiment is QKD that I got in a grab bag.

Happy Sunday everyone! Hugs!

QKD Monday Hop

It's time for another Queen Kat Designs Royal Monday hop! If you are just stumbling in, please go back to the QKD blog to start the hop. If you came here from the beautiful Sara's blog, then you are in the right place.

This week, we were inspired by a picture. I added the picture down below in case you'd like to play along. I really liked the colors and how clean and airy the room is. That's where I found my inspiration. That's why my card is so clean and simple. And I think that it really lets the mermaid stand out.

I used Nivia for my card. I was talking to Maigan about her the other day and we decided that she looks like me. :) Well, I decided and she agreed with me, probably just to be nice. I used my markers to color Nivia and then I accented with silver gel pen to add some shimmer. Then I matted her on some grey paper and put her on the card base.

Your next stop is to hop on over to the Queen Kat Designs store and pick yourself out some fun stamps! And if you want to pick me up some cute stamps, I'd be ok with that too. Vicki has my address and can ship it on over. ;) Ahahaha! I crack myself up!

This week, we had a color challenge. The challenge is to use the QKD colors; purple, pink, white and grey. Pretty color combo, huh? I used Lidia again. She's adorable, isn't she? I colored her with my markers and sparkly gel pens. I also used the SCS sketch challenge from last week. The designer paper here is PTI Guidelines. The rhinestones are from Michael's. The card base is just a grey card stock.

Now, hop on over the the Queen Kat Designs store and pick yourself up some AWESOME stamps! Also, Vicki has some yummy blog candy on her blog! :) Check it out!

Here's the hop list in case you get lost:

WIS Challenge: Purple and Green

Did you see my challenge over at the Whimsical Ink Sorority Blog? It's a color challenge. This week, all you have to do is use PURPLE and GREEN.

Here's my card for this week. I used the beautiful Lidia. Isn't she gorgeous? I colored her with my markers and matted her. Then I added her to a card that I covered with designer paper, I'm not sure what the paper is, it's really old and from my stash. The I added some ribbon. There's also some Spica pen to add some sparkle to Lidia.
