Seasons Giving Blog Hop 4

Hi Friends!  I hope you're having a WONDERFUL day!  We are doing great!  The kiddos are going to try to stay up until midnight to ring in the New Year, wish us luck!

This year, I finally got my act together to participate in my friend Latisha's amazing Seasons Givings Blog Hop.  This is the fourth year of this amazing hop.  The hop is just a bunch of crafters and crafting companies giving back to the crafting community.  A huge THANK YOU for the past year.  Each stop on this blog hop will have a giveaway.  It's a wonderful out pouring of generosity and I'm so glad I get to participate this year!

I made a card for this hop.  :)  By the time this blog hop goes live, it will still be my birthday (Dec 31) so I made a birthday card.  Let's be 100% honest, I don't even really know how to make cards anymore.  I mostly do Pocket Scrapbooking and the cards I made this year usually had the elements provided by my amazing friend Rachel at her crops.  I figured I would just pull out some of my favorite items and let them speak to me.  I used an old collection from Dear Lizzy Daydreamer which I have used also every single bit of.  I've never used so much of a 6x6 pad before, I only have 3 whole sheets left in that pad.  The image is a sticker from the collection.  I added some Chickaniddy enamel hearts and a Paper Smooches sentiment.  I thought it would be cute to stamp the sentiment in pink but it's a little hard to see.

GIVEAWAY: Today, I'm giving away one (1) $15 gift certificate to 1 of my favorite online stores.  One winner will be able to pick a gift certificate from either: Butterfly Reflections Ink, Ellen Hutson, or Paper Issues.  Just leave a comment and I will pick a winner and post on Jan 7.

Please follow my blog to see my new posts in the new year.  You can also follow my Heart Hugs Designs Facebook Page.

The next stop on the hop is my DEAR DEAR friend Nicole Maki.  Please check out the rest of the hop:

Fluttering 2014 Layout and We Need Your Help!

Hi friends!  I hope you are doing well!  We are pretty good!  We kicked off our month long Fluttering project yesterday.  If you haven't heard of Fluttering, you can read my blog post HERE.  In a nutshell, we have committed to moving 12 dragonflies from house to house for the whole month of September to spread awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and to raise money for Unravel Pediatric Cancer.

Today, I'm sharing the Project Life pages I made to document last year's Fluttering.  I used Becky Higgins page protectors, Heidi Swapp Project Life cards, tons of Heidi Swapp embellishments, American Crafts Thickers, and a bunch of embellishments I had in my stash.  This is the first layout I've done in mostly black and white and it has a really cool effect.

Our family needs your help!  We set a goal of $1000 to raise in the month of September for our Flutter Campaign.  If you have it in your budget, please consider donating to our page.  All the money goes towards the fight against pediatric cancer which is EXTREMELY underfunded.  The statistics are heartbreaking.  Seven children die everyday in the US from cancer yet pediatric cancer gets under 4% of the allotted federal funding for cancer.  Our children deserve better!  Please help if you can.

Fell off the Crafting Wagon...

Hi friends!  Long time no talk!  A lot has happened in the last few weeks and it's just busy and made me so tired.  The kiddos have finally hit a stride with school which is awesome!  We have small obstacles with that but I'm hoping we'll overcome them soon.

At the beginning of August, I tried to start The 100 Days Project.  I did ok for a few days and then fell off the crafting wagon.  I got some news from a doctor that took me off guard and I kind of just felt knocked on my bum.  I will be FINE, it's a set back and I just have to be proactive towards getting healthier.  However, it took me for a loop and I just didn't feel like crafting for a really long time.  Do any of you ever deal with this?  I just don't feel like I can craft through it when I feel confused or unhappy.  Do you have tips for this?  If so, please let me know!

Here are a couple of the cards I made before I stopped crafting.

I really like this card.  I made it with some Amy Tangerine Stitched paper and stickers.  I think that since I loved this little camera sticker so much that I was going to love this card no matter what.  I really like the generational stamping as well.

Then on the opposite side, I did not like this card at all.  I used Crate Paper Notes and Things for this one.  It's just the layout that I don't like.  I really forced this one night because I felt like I HAD to make something.  Perhaps this is why I feel like I can't craft when I don't feel so good.  I feel like everything I make turns out badly.  I do love the little heart though.

Have a great day, friends!

The 100 Days Project

Hi friends!  I hope that you are well.  I'm still dealing with my shoulder injury but it seems to be getting better.  I'm sure it will be fine in a few days.

A gal I follow on Instagram, Natalie Elphinstone, has been doing this challenge of sorts called The 100 Days Project.  Basically, you do a creative task everyday for 100 days and you record your efforts.  She was doing hers with pocket scrapbooking cards and I just LOVE that idea!  I also loved reading her captions about what she was trying, why she made what she did, and what she was learning about her her style.  I haven't been crafting regularly and I need it.  I can feel that I'm not centered.

I made this 3x4 card today.  I don't love it but I think that's part of the process, to figure out what your style is and to experiment with techniques and products.  I used papers from Dear Lizzy Fine and Dandy.  The enamel dots are from My Mind's Eye, the doily is from Recollections, and I used Whisker Graphics Gold Metallic Divine Twine.

I have a small group of friends who will be attempting this challenge with me.  We have a Facebook group to support each other and share our creations.  We are starting on August 1.  If you'd like to join, please message me on Facebook or drop me an email.  Have a wonderful day, friends!

Happiest of Holidays and Winners

Hi friends!  I hope that you are doing well!  We are ok.  It's just very busy this time of year and we are working out some things at school for my son.  Hopefully, we will resolve everything soon and we can relax for Christmas.

I've been holding onto this card for a long time, waiting to blog it.  It was one of the last cards that I made to submit to Paper Crafts.  This was a LONG time ago but I didn't want to blog it until Christmas since it's awkward to post Christmas cards in the spring.  Maybe?  I don't know.  Either way, I waited.  This card was made with American Crafts papers and some Metallic Silver Divine Twine.  I really like the movement on this card.

I also wanted to announce the winner of two giveaways:
Jamberry - Kim Howard
Unravel - Elly H

Congrats!  Email me via the sidebar for your prize!  Have a great day, friends!

Christmas Collage

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a great day!  We are ok.  The boys went back to school this week but now Parker isn't feeling well.  Hopefully, he will feel better soon.  He almost never gets sick.  He's a trooper.

I figured I would share another card I made for a call that wasn't picked up.  I tried my hand at collage and it didn't quite work.  One day, I'll get good at it again.  I just need practice, right?  I made this with elements from Peppermint Express by American Crafts.  I added some May Arts ribbon.  I used a 4x6 journalling spot as the base of the card, I thought that would be clever.  I hope to craft again soon!
Have a great day, friends!

Hoppy Easter with Solid Divine Twine Banners

Hi friends!  I hope you are doing well!  We are enjoying spring break over here.  We are hanging out around town with our friends.  I've gotten a little bit of crafting done.  I'm not going to lie, it feels good!  I'm hoping that it keeps up.

Today, I'm sharing a card I made for this week's Paper Smooches Spark's Picture Perfect Challenge.  I love playing along with their challenges!  Paper Smooches Stamps are some of my favorites.  This week's inspiration photo has lots of banners on it.  I decided to try to make my own banners with Solid Divine Twine.  I was really inspired by the banner with the fabric looped through.  That's the first one I made then I decided I needed more.  I made one with bows and one with knots that I pulled apart.  I used A Little Lovin and Alphadots on this card.  I really love being able to spell out my own matching sentiments.  I sometimes use words from sentiment sets and then add onto them especially to make puns.  The paper is Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

2014 Album Title Page

Hi friends!  I hope you are doing well!  We are doing ok.  Dustin went out of town for work today and was gone ALL day.  It was a LONG day, I'm just sayin'.  That's why I'm blogging so late today.

Today, I'm sharing my title page for my 2014 Project Life/Pocket Style Scrapbook album.  For this page, I used a Becky Higgins Design A page protector.  The cards are from the Project Life 5th and Frolic kit.  This is one of the rare times I used mostly a core kit on a page.  I'm trying really hard to simplify my album more this year so I can GET IT DONE.  That's what I really need.  The "Hello 2014" flair is from my friend Taniesa's store, The Craft Pickle.  (She has SUPER cute flair, check it out!)  I used some Studio Calico wood veneer potty people on this.  The alphabet stickers are from American Crafts and the camera clip is from Maya Road.
I've been experimenting with my photography on my layouts.  I think this is it.  I should probably pull everything out of the pockets, but with the kids running around all the time and my desire to use natural light on these, it's challenging.  We shall see.  Have a wonderful day, friends!

January Poppy Sketch

Hi friends!   I hope you're all doing well!  We are doing pretty good.  Avery is still teething but I think she's starting to feel better about it.  The boys are good.  We are gearing up to celebrate Lunar New Year here.

Today, I'm sharing a card I made with my friend Laura's sketch for January.  She's been away from creating and blogging a year and a half.  She's staging a comeback much like myself.  I'm finding hers much more successful because she's been posting everyday since she started her comeback.  I have not.  Of course when I saw her sketch, I had to play along.  I used to do her sketches all the time over at 2 Sketches 4 You.  For this card, I used some Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party paper.  I also used a stamp, a sequin heart, and engraved cork shape from the January Oh Deer Me Kit.  (More on this kit later!)  I finished with Silver Metallic Divine Twine.  Laura is going to have a new sketch on Feb 1 so you should check that out!
Have a great day, friends!

Lawnscaping Winter Blog Hop

Hi friends!  Today, I'm super excited to be back with my friends at Lawnscaping for the Lawnscaping Winter Blog Hop!  You should be coming here from Samantha M.'s Blog, if not hop on back to the Lawnscaping Blog to start the hop.  Don't forget to leave comments at each stop to win one of the prizes for our sponsors!  You can find info on the prizes and sponsors on the Lawnscaping Blog.  You have until Sunday Dec 15 at 11:59pm EST to leave your comments.  Winners will be drawn at random.

To be perfectly honest with you, I haven't been feeling well for the last week and I've been in and out of the doctor's office.  I was hoping to make more items but I just couldn't.  This one simple card took me forever.

On my card, I used Lawn Fawn's Critters in the Snow.  I love penguins!  I'm not sure if I've ever shared that on my blog.  They are my favorite animals (all year round.)  I also used a speech bubble from Lawn Fawn's A Birdie Told Me.  I used my brand new American Crafts Peppermint Express.  After I put my papers together, I decided that they were too busy but I didn't want to start over.  I used a technique that I've seen on my friend Marie's blog.  She sometimes puts her patterned paper inside a Whisker Graphics Glassine Bag and it mutes the pattern.  I used one of the Glassine Bags to wrap up my panel.  I finished this card with a little of the new Silver Metallic Divine Twine and some Stickles in Crystal on my igloo.
Next up on your hop is Elena J.  Don't forget to leave a comment before you go so you can be entered to win one of the prizes!  Also, in the spirit of the holidays I'm going to pick a random commenter to get a small sampling of the new Whisker Graphics Silver Metallic Divine Twine.  :)

Flutter By Wednesday #244

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a great day!  I have fun news to share with you today.  :)  FOUR years ago, I was on a team and left to have a baby (Parker.)  Upon leaving, I was told that if I ever wanted to come back, there would always be a place for me.  Even though four years have passed, Danni accepted me back on the team with open arms when I asked.  :)  I'm so happy to be back with my Flutter By Wednesday friends!  This is ensure that every Wednesday, I will have a new card on my blog!  :D

This week's challenge is to make a Clean and Simple card.  Wow, did I come back at the right time or what?  The only requirement to enter the challenge is to have a butterfly or fairy on your card.  Easy peasy!  I pulled out this Amy Tangerine Yes Please paper again.  It's just so summery and happy that I had to use it!  I combined the Flutter By challenge with the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge for this week which is a sketch.  I used the Paper Smooches Flap Happy set for this, some enamel dots, and a little bit of Stickles on the butterfly's body.

Have a great day, friends!  And don't forget to link up your creations over at the Flutter By Wednesday Blog!

Whisker Graphics Challenge 1 : Use a Tag

Hi friends!  I hope you are doing well.  We are having a bit of a struggle this weekend because everyone is a bit under the weather.  But you know what?  School is OUT so life is good, right?

Today, we are kicking off the BRAND NEW Whisker Graphics Challenge.  Each month there will be a new challenge starting on the first of the month and ending on the last day of the month.  You must use a Whisker Graphics product to enter the challenge, if you don't have one, check out the FREE printables.  This month's challenge is Use a Tag on Your Project.  You can make anything you want and link it up on the Whisker Graphics Blog.  Here's my sample for this month's challenge:

I used a Large Colored Tag in yellow and a Small Colored Tag in orange.  I also used Raspberry Divine Twine and Teal Divine Twine.  The patterned paper is Amy Tangerine Yes Please.  I used a Studio Calico Wood Veneer Butterfly.  And the stamps are from Fresh Squeezed Stamps Happy Hexagons.  I'm also entering this into the Fresh Squeezed Stamps challenge #8 - summer.

Be sure to check out THIS POST on the Whisker Graphics Blog to link up your creations and to check out what the rest of the design team did.  Have a great day, friends!

First Project Life Post

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a great day!  I had a rough one.  I was feeling really sick and had to hurry into the doctor's office.  Turns out that I have a bladder infection, was dehydrated, and my blood pressure is a bit high.  I just got some medications and was sent home.

Lately, I've been really into Project Life.  I decided to just start it and go with it.  I'm really sorry but these won't be in order.  I was working backwards but I do want to catch up on my current month while it is fresh in my mind.  So, I hope I can still inspire you with my out of order, crazy Project Life making.  ;)  Without further ado, here's the week of Aug 5-11.  I used American Crafts/Amy Tangerine Sketchbook for this week.

Here's the right side.
Here's the left side.

FEEDBACK PLEASE:  Do these photos work for you?  I can't take the pictures where I photograph my cards because there is too much glare.  I could try going outside but that might not work in the winter.  Would you like close up pictures of things?  What kind of things?  Do you want me to make the pictures larger?

Have a great day, friends!

Minty Fresh

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a good day!  I just dropped Brady off at Kindergarten and I teared up. Again.  It's been almost a week.  I don't see it ending any time soon.  What can you do?

On a happy note, I got to stamp yesterday.  I made two cards and I really like them both.  It's been a LONG time since this has happened.  I lose my mojo every time I'm pregnant so this was huge for me.  I decided to try a card for the Moxie Fab World Minty Fresh Challenge.  I actually made this card before the kangaroo one from yesterday.  I used some American Crafts/Dear Lizzie Neapolitan papers. Completely different than yesterday's card using the exact same paper line, huh?  The stamped sentiment is from the same line.  I used some May Arts burlap string and a Denami button.
Have a great day, friends!

Baby Kangaroo

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a great day!  I'm blogging again because I want to get this card in under the wire for a challenge.  ;)

Apparently, I have baby on the brain so I'm making tons of baby cards.  I should probably find a few more pregnant people to befriend.  I'm entering this card in several challenges: Simon Says Stamps Animal Antics, MarkerPop Coloring challenge 5, and Moxie Fab World Minty Fresh challenge.  I colored my Lawn Fawn image with Copics.  The paper is American Crafts/Dear Lizzie Neapolitan and the ribbon is white wrinkled ribbon from May Arts.  I also used a punch to add a little interest.
Have a great day, friends!

For Mia

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a great day!  We had an amazing day yesterday!  We found out that Baby Nugget is a girl, Brady had an excellent day at Kindergarten (his teacher said he's a great listener!), and my friend had a baby and we got to visit her in the hospital.  I love love love babies so that's always a huge treat for me!

Here's a card I made for my friend who just had the baby to give to her daughter, Mia.  She said she couldn't find a big sister type card so I figured I would just make one.  I didn't have the right image so I actually bought this digi from Some Odd Girl specifically for this card but I think I'll use it again since it would be cute for all sorts of little girl cards.  I mean, what little girl hasn't pushed a stroller?  I decided to use the Some Odd Girl August Sketch for this card.  I colored the image with Copic (I'm VERY out of practice), used American Crafts/Dear Lizzie papers, MLS alpha stickers, and some Kaisercraft gems.    Oh and a tiny dot of Stickles for her hairband.
Have a great day, friends!

Fall Fun

Hi friends!  I hope you're having a wonderful week.  My coughing has settled down a bit but I'm having severe pain in my sides.  I have a phone appointment with a doctor in about an hour to figure out what's going on.

Yesterday was my sweet Parker's 3rd birthday.  We had a really fun day dictated by my little guy.  He wanted to go to the grocery store for breakfast and have a donut.  Then he wanted to eat lunch with Daddy.  Then for the super fun part, we went to downtown and hit up the toy store, candy store, and had pizza for dinner.  Funny thing is, he told me his favorite part of the day was driving over the bumpy cobblestone road.  ;)

Here's a card I made a long time ago and I'm just getting around the sharing it.  I only have a few more things in my archives so if I don't have it in me to create, my blog will go dormant for a while.  :(  I love this card and I'm sad it didn't get picked up.  I used American Crafts papers and embellishments.  The corduroy ribbon and string are from May Arts.
Have a great day, friends!

Scrapbook Steals June Blog Hop (Giveaway)

Hi friends!  I hope you are doing well!  I'm still sick as all get out but what can you do?

Ok, today I have a FUN FUN treat for you all!  I was invited to be a part of the Scrapbook Steals June Blog Hop!  You know that I'm a frugal girl so I love shopping Scrapbook Steals for my scrapbooking supplies!  The blog hop starts on the Scrapbook Steals Blog.  If you are coming from Maya's blog, you're in the right place!  Don't forget to leave comments on each stop because you could WIN a $20 gift certificate to Scrapbook Steals!  I wish I could win!!

The steal I got to work with is some gorgeous American Crafts Glitter Tape.  This stuff is SO fabulous!  It's VERY sticky on the back and the glitter doesn't have a lot of fall out.  I'm very impressed with this product and I'll probably be buying more today!

Here's my project for today.  I thought these tapes would look fabulous on a vase.  After all, who doesn't love a little glitter in their decor?  I also wanted to make a matching card.  The tape stuck right to the glass, no priming or extra adhesive needed.  Also, I messed up a couple times and I was able to pull the tape up and reposition it with no problems.  It has NOT budged!
Here's a picture of just the vase.  The flowers are just from my garden.
And here's the card I made to go with the vase.  I wanted the tape to be more random than it actually ended up being but I couldn't force myself to not use a pattern.  Sigh... OCD gets the best of me!  The sentiment is from My Thoughts Exactly Big Thoughts.

Alright, here's the order for the REST of the hop:
Miriam Prantner (go here next!)

Have a great day and don't forget to leave comments for your chance to win the $20 gift certificate!  The hop closes on Sunday June 10th at 11:59 mountain time.
